In the United States, 33% of young people grow up without a role model or mentor. But it doesn’t have to be this way. Together, we can help kids in need of a mentor. College Mentors for Kids’ innovative mentoring program brings kids to a university campus for fun, hands-on activities and connects them to college student mentors. Our student mentors are helping kids believe in a brighter future.
Our mission is centered on opening windows of opportunity for underserved children. The idea is simple: by exposing impressionable children to positive pathways, they might make healthier life choices and achieve:
1) enhanced understanding of new opportunities they would not have otherwise had;
2) a future in which they are financially independent; and
3) a passion for giving back to their communities that lasts into adulthood.
College Mentors for Kids is a dual impact program. Our college student alumni are volunteering and giving back to their communities at higher rates than their peers. Volunteers gain valuable leadership skills and develop meaningful relationships with their mentees that provide a lasting impact.
